I Need to Read

Just an observation. I've only read 1 proper book this year. The rest has been a few novels, a couple of audiobooks, and a handful of TPBs. It's about time to get my brain working again.
Reading Update
As you probably know by now, I love to read. For the last few years, I've challenged myself to read a certain number of books. This past year, I'm pleased to announce that I met my goal which was 30 books. I probably could have surpassed this number had it not been for my last quarter fascination with comic books (everybody's got to have a hobby, right?).
Sadly, however, I feel that 2008 may have been my final year for such a huge amount of reading. Last year I had a lot more flexibility in my schedule to do so. This year I have a baby coming, so I may do some reading but the books are most likely to be made of cardboard and eventually become something for him to chew on rather than listen to.
The point of today, though, was to give you a peek at my bookshelf. Toward the end of last year I took the handful of books that I was only a chapter or two into and just re-shelved them. Two pages, twice a week is no way to read a book. I kept out Making Room for Life by Randy Frazee because, though my reading has slowed, it is still a great book and an easy read. I hope to finish it in the next couple of weeks. Also, my wife was kind enough to buy my a casual reading book (because reading for pleasure is great medicine). This book is Batman: Inferno. It's a Batman novel. It's not bad.
I've got a book on my shelf that I haven't started yet, but intend to read because I promised to write a review of it and just haven't had time. It's a bit of a unique product, The Truth About You by Marcus Buckingham. Apparently it's a video, plus a book, plus a workbook. I've read and listened to Buckingham before, so I'm sure it's great, I just need to get it into the rotation.
Finally, I'm working my way throught the book of Mark in the New Testament. I'm reading it kind of slowly so as to take it all in.
I don't have a total book goal for the year, and I think that maybe that is good for right now.
So, what's on your bookshelf?
Books
I'm always looking for good books. I read a lot of different things.
