121 Community Church - Grapevine, TX
| Experience Hospitality
producer, co-writer, casting, actor This was a clever promo to recruit people to our Hospitality Ministry (i.e. First Impressions/Guest Services). Matt Coleman and I concepted and scripted the video. Matt directed. I cast one of our best volunteers, Josh Pittman, as the lead. He had never acted on camera before, but he was a natural. He was great at taking technical direction from Matt as well as injecting his own ideas into our very improvisational monologue. |

First Baptist Church - Coppell, TX
| The first three videos were promotional items used to update the congregation on a building development initiative that involved three unique space renovations. |
| My First Place with Bill Bartowsky
co-producer, co-writer, actor I love creating memorable characters. Bill Bartowsky is a lovable, bumbling, handyman type and his "Ramp it up" catchphrase has taken on a life of its own. The concept for this video was to mimic the reality renovation shows found on HGTV. Charley Hellmuth did a great job of playing "straight man". We worked together to figure out the darkroom door bit completely on the fly. Tina Brown directed us expertly and did a great job of dropping some b-reel footage in to capture some more detail on the project. | Worship Center Renovation
co-producer, writer, lead actor, casting Our Creative Arts Pastor (Kevin Goldstein) and I came up with this idea after attending an REO Speedwagon concert. I wrote the script and enlisted the actors for a mockumentary-style video inspired by the work of the great Christopher Guest. Because the project was not as visually apparent as our other two remodel projects we had to be creative in finding a visual way to communicate an auditory change. Tina, again, found great ways to connect the dots using secondary footage. She also did a great job of directing us by letting us run with crazy ideas and knowing when to stop us. |
| The Ark Promo
co-writer, performer, production coordinator Inspired by several other more notorious church rap videos, we set out to leave our own mark on hip hop. Jon Webb wrote and produced an amazing song as well as sketched out the structure of the video. I helped work out a portion of the lyrics and staging as well as booking all of the performers for both audio and video. Wes Ashworth did a great job engineering the vocals as well as mixing and mastering the final track. The staff and children of the church were pros at all their parts. As director, Tina showed her keen ability to work with a variety of personalities to get the performance that she needed from them. Nigel Wayne and Bill Bartowsky even made the final cut. By far the most edgy of the three videos, it was also probably our most well-received. |
| 4th of July
arranger, musician, production coordinator This was Tina's project from start to finish, I was simply lucky enough to be a part. The concept was inspired by the Pepsi Refresh Project commercials and Tina worked tirelessly to frame and position everything just right. We also had the awesome opportunity to engage our congregation and community by working with the Coppell Fire and Police Departments. We were unable to find just the right song so I arranged a version of America the Beautiful. I played guitar, congas, and marimba. Tina played the cello. Again, Wes engineered and produced a great track. Again, I scheduled and coached all of the folks who appeared on screen. Due to a projector failure the night before it aired, Tina was forced to go back and re-encode the video as well as record a voice over. |
