Throwdown Thursday

It's Thursday, so there's a new TV Throwdown over at TOC. Today's topic: an ode to my favorite screenwriter and two of the greatest television programs of the last 20 years that were canceled before their time. Editors Note: I've misspelled canceled 3 times in the last 12 hours.
Chronicles of Narnia: Dawn Treader Trailer
When they first started making Narnia films, I was afraid that they wouldn't have the momentum to make it all the way to Book 3 - The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, which is by far my favorite in the series. I was very pleased last night to find that the first trailer for it has been released.
I think that it looks better than Prince Caspian, but maybe not as good as The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe. New director on this one, not sure what that's going to do to it. I'm a little tentative about it living up to my expectations, but we will definitely see.
Media Friday: A Mixed Bag
Ok, today's going to be a hodgepodge, rapid fire. Here goes:
TV:
I wasn't impressed with the Survivor premiere or what I saw of the Office. We've got big games Saturday and Sunday night. Can't wait
Movies:
I bought Wolverine. I watched it. I liked it better than when I saw it in the theater. I wish they had better special features on all of the X-Men DVDs.
Books:
I updated the What I'm Reading section of the sidebar so check that out. I'm waitlisted at the library for The Lost Symbol. I haven't read any comics in a while. Maybe when I can spare $20 I'll get on Half.com and see what I can find.
Videos:
In the Contributor section of the sidebar I added a link to the Church Jobs videos. I was going to put one up for a short film that I was in, but 3/4 of it is no longer available on YouTube. What's with that?
Media Friday: Obscure Films – Houseguest
Back in 1995, two of the biggest cats in the business, Phil Hartman and Sinbad, hooked up to make the comedy Houseguest.
In case you missed it, here's the gist. Sinbad is a ne'er-do-well who owes a bunch of money to some really bad guys. While attempting to elude them at the airport, he overhears Phil Hartman describing the friend that he is waiting to pick up: an old friend from summer camp who he hasn't seen in decades. Humor ensues.
I'm not a huge fan of either Sinbad or Hartman, but this show just cracks me up. It turns out that the old friend is this world famous dentist, so Sinbad has to play along with that, plus the guy is apparently a vegetarian (which Sinbad clearly is not). In the clip below, he's finally gotten away from the family for a few minutes and finds his way to a McDonald's.
At it's core, the story is about how Sinbad helps to bring Phil Hartman's struggling famiy back together. Actually, it's not totally unlike Cops and Robbersons. So, anyway, go spend a buck this weekend and enjoy this one.

Media Friday: Obscure Films – Cop and a Half
I was at work and one of my co-workers referenced a movie that I hadn't seen in years. I figured that I should share it with you in the first edition of Media Friday's Obscure Films.

I remember video taping this movie from an HBO free preview weekend when I was a kid. I watched just about every other day. I love the kid because he is like a minature version of Samuel L. Jackson. Unfortunately, according to IMDB, this was his only film role.
Check out the trailer...
