Ode to Whataburger

Today, Whataburger celebrates their 60th birthday. Wear something orange into any Whataburger between 5-8 pm and score a free Whataburger. Dig that.

But that's not the only reason to dedicate an entire post to this bastion of burger bliss...

Some of you may remember, about 2 years ago, I heralded the greatness of the Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich, the A1 Thick and Hearty Burger, and the BBQ Cheddar Burger, whose imminent return I predicted.

Unfortunately, one of their VPs commented on this very blog that the BBQ Cheddar Burger was not slated to return. Well, my friends, lightning has struck again with the re-introduction of this very burger.

Now, I like mine sans onions, but to each their own. So, I implore you, while there is still time, indulge.

Note to Whataburger execs: this is not a ploy to get more swag - thanks for the t-shirt, by the way. However, if you do want to employ me as your answer to Subway's "Jared" (minus the weight loss) shoot me a message. We'll do lunch. BBQ Cheddar Burgers all around.

Monday Morning List

Friday:

  • Rearranged my office. Still a work in progress. Nearly a year after moving in, I've almost gotten rid of the furniture I didn't want.
  • Rocked the BBQ Cheddar Burger from Whataburger. No onions, 'cause that's "just how I like it."
  • Traded some games at GameStop for me. Traded some toys at Kid to Kid for Lincoln.
  • Finished the Porch Swing project. Only lost one piece in the whole process.
  • Caught up on Royal Pains after Lincoln went to bed.

Saturday:

  • Had a nice family morning.
  • Scored some incredible Shipley's Donuts. For my $ there's not much better than Shipley's for donuts. Really, where else can you get cherry icing and chocolate filling (not on the same donut, though).
  • Planned on getting the car inspected, but when I could barely pull into the parking lot because everyone gets their car worked on on Saturday decided to pass and go grocery shopping.
  • Caught up on Persons Unknown after Lincoln went to bed.

Sunday:

  • Played in the band at church. Played my own bass this week rather than borrowing Kevin's. Think it was the best that I've ever played.
  • Lincoln wasn't feeling good so I went home and took care of him.
  • Went back out to Dallas for a church cookout for Afrika Community Church. Had fun watching all of the refugee kids having fun on the bounce house and water slides.

Editor's Note: Ok, I know I've been a little lax in my postings the last couple of weeks... this week will be different.
