My Own Coffeehouse

Yesterday, ChurchCrunch launched the “Do Bloggers Need Business Cards CONTEST”. These are my thoughts…
I crave great conversations. In my case, blogging is a means for sparking great conversations. I like to imagine that my readers and I are having coffee and chatting about big ideas, mundane details, and artistic differences on a daily basis. This little chunk of cyber-land is one piece of my contribution to the global conversation. This is my coffeehouse and I want to invite as many people as possible to come in, sit down, grab a cup of coffee, and engage the conversation.
The problem is, I’m not great at initiating that invitation aside for my catch phrase “ryanbrymer.com… go there.” Having a business card, for me, would be an invitation to conversation. It’s saying, “hey, I like the way you think. Please, come share more.” I’m a lot less concerned with getting my own ideas out there than I am with giving others an opportunity to flesh out their own.
I want to get more people in on the conversation and I’m just looking for new ways to do that.

What is interesting is that this piece of low tech social media, the business card, is still a vital part of business and social interaction.
