The Trifecta

My friends, I have a public service announcement to share with you. It is, in fact, the most wonderful time of the year. Not because of turkey and dressing or family and friends. No, there is but one reason for giving thanks. Every year the dear, sweet people over at Whataburger grace us with three month of taste sensation and this is that time of year.

Now, I have yet to plot it out specificially on the calendar, which is good because I think that it may have some variance there. However, one thing I have noticed is that these three blessings of flavor delight always come one after another (though the precise order may be varied). What is important is that with the advent of the first, the other two can be expected. Much like the gift of the Magi, these sandwiches bring with them great aromas and an experience that one could only dream of having all year long.

Of course, I’m referring to the

Honey BBQ Chicken Strip Sandwich (just ended)

A1 Think & Hearty Burger (just re-launched)

and the BBQ Cheddar Burger (coming soon)

So, if you’re wondering what to do with your hard earned money in this economic crisis and fear putting it in banks, invest in flavor. You won’t be disappointed. (Though we are not able to garauntee a specific return on your investment. Please remember, all investments involve some risk.)

Ryan – we so appreciate your passion for Whataburger. If I may, at the risk of disappointing you, I would like to more accurately lay out our calendar for you. Following Thick & Hearty, in January we will feature the 99 cent Taquito for breakfast to help ease those economic woes. Then in February we are bringing back an "instant classic" from August – the Whataburger Patty Melt. And then in March it's the return of the Peppercorn Ranch Whatachick'n. We have a host of other product surprises launching the 1st of January so we invite you to check them out and let us know what you think. Unfortunately, we have not scheduled a return of the BBQ Cheddar burger for '09 yet. But we'll see.

    All our best,
    Todd Coerver

    Wow,
Pulling in a comment from the Whataburger Marketing guy. Never expected that!

Todd, Thanks for the update. Gotta admit that I'm sad about the BBQ Cheddar. We'll all cross our fingers and hope. It actually appears that A1 has a bit more of a fan base from what I saw in my little bit of research for this post.

Even though there may not be any BBQ-Cheddary goodness coming my way, I must continue to encourage my readers to swing by for some A1 love before time runs out.

By the way, thanks for being upfront with your plans (vs. The competition
who has the farewell of their stupid fake rib-wich every year – along with
    the same marketing campaign).

    Ryan:
I wanted to note that I also received a personal email from the Whataburger CEO. So, I wanted you all to know of their responsiveness and my gratitude to them for it.

    TroySims:
That's really cool Ryan!!! I have two Uncles that work for Whataburger and they both love it as a company. Enjoy the 'specials' coming out soon!

    BrianH:
Wow Ryan. If you ever decide to switch careers, you've got a good start in advertising. The first key in successful ads is sincerely and your copy oozed with it, along with the sauce.

    Ryan:
Thanks man. When are we playing football again?

    AndyC:
This is a cool set of comments. Good job on the original post and the response from the company. This is what social media should be about; reaching out and reaching back in.
